About our Honorees

Gillis and George Poll are restaurateurs who grew up in Manhasset.  They branched off on their own from the family business in 1980 when they opened Pappas Restaurant in Williston Park, which later became Riverbay.  With hard work, dedication, smart decisions and the support of the North Shore Community, the Poll Brothers were able to grow their restaurant businesses.  Today they own Bryant & Cooper Steakhouse, Majors Steakhouse, Cipollini Trattoria & Bar, Toku Modern Asian, Hendrick’s Tavern, Bar Frites a bistro in the Wheatley Plaza, and Angelo’s Family Style Italian.

Gillis resides in Upper Brookville with his daughter Alexandra. He attended CW Post College and the Pierce American College in Athens, Greece. He is a member of LaGorce Country Club in Miami Beach, Florida. His passions include; cuisine and hospitality, antiques and restoration, golf and swimming.

George resides in Laurel Hollow with his wife, Kristin and daughters Madison and Alexandra. He earned his degree in Hospitality Management from Boston University where he is frequently a guest speaker. He is a member of Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove. George enjoys time with his family, playing golf, traveling, football and great dining experiences.

The Poll Brothers owe their gratitude to the wonderful people in the community that have supported them throughout the years.  For the last 30 years, they have been very passionate about supporting local charities and organizations.
